Shoppers were previously allowed one hour of free parking in a number of locations across the town centre. However, that has now been reduced to 30 minutes by Harborough Borough Council.
In response, a number of bar owners, restaurateurs and retailers joined forces as the Lutterworth Retail Forum. The organisation has established a magazine to promote the best of Lutterworth.
Mike Perks, Mayor of Lutterworth, assisted the group with the first issue of ‘The Lutterworth Shopper and Eating Out Guide’ at a recent forum meeting which took place at The Greyhound Coaching Inn.
The magazine features information on the town centre's shops, as well as restaurants, bars, and cafés. In addition to distributing it to shops and restaurants, the group is delivering it to every home in Lutterworth. Each advert in the publication is aimed at encouraging people to shop locally by including a special offer.
Ian Jones, a Forum member, said:
"The experience of shopping locally is that feeling of belonging to a community where you can get to know the shopkeepers.
