Lutterworth set to be Sport Relief centre

Lutterworth is set to be one of the towns in the district of Harborough contributing to the local Sport Relief effort this year. Unlike previous years, the 2014 programme will include ‘Swimathons’ alongside the runs and walks, with Lutterworth Sports Centre being one of the two venues used for this part of the fundraising.

Those wishing to raise cash for Sport Relief, which was set up to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds – both in this country and others – will have the option of swimming 1.5km, 2.5 km or 5km. As with the majority of charity events held in the area, the Swimathon at the town’s sports centre will be supported by promotional poster printing provided by Lutterworth Print companies, as the organisers try to get as many local people involved as possible.

The events this time will mark the fifth year that Harborough has been involved in Sport Relief activities, but the first time that Lutterworth has played a central role. In 2012, around 450 locals turned up to take part in the activities, and it is hoped that this year will be even better.

The Swimathons at Lutterworth Sports Centre and Harborough Leisure Centre are taking place from Friday 21st March to Sunday 23rd, and those keen to participate, donate or sponsor can do so via the Sport Relief website.
