Lutterworth railway station remembered

An exhibition was staged in Lutterworth to mark 50 years since the closure of its railway station.

The transport show was hosted over a weekend earlier this month. Lutterworth Museum and the Lutterworth Railway Society came together to put on various events. The 50th anniversary of the rail station closure was commemorated by a diversity of organisations. Poster printing can be used to help promote events within the community. Traders and societies gained from showcasing their goods and services in Lutterworth.

On the weekend, Lutterworth Art Group put on a show, while the Cotesbach Educational Trust screened some train-related films. In addition, the B17 Steam Locomotive Trust seized the opportunity to put on a display. This charity aspires to construct a locomotive. The hope is that the new train will be similar to the locomotives of the 1950s.

When it came to venues, Lutterworth Town Hall enabled the art exhibition. Rae Flowerday, an artist who is based in the East Midlands, participated in the show. She has worked at The Grid. This set of studios was created back in 2002 and it is located in the village of Harborough Magna. Lutterworth Sports Hall was employed to accommodate the sale of transport-related merchandise.

Vintage buses played a significant role at the exhibition. The idea was to take members of the public to sites with a historical connection.
