Lutterworth pub restoration to benefit charity

The recent restoration work carried out at a popular Lutterworth pub is set to produce further good cheer through charity fundraising.

The Greyhound Coaching Inn has been a fixture in Market Street for years, and part of its appeal has always lain in the distinctive wishing well that sits outside the main entrance.

In recent times, this had become rather worn-looking, but the owner of the pub – Robert Eggeleston – has had it restored using his own funds. As part of the project, any money that visitors to the pub throw into the well from now on will be given to the Water Aid charity, which is dedicated to reducing the number of child deaths due to poor sanitation and water across the world.

Given that these numbers are estimated to be about 4,000 every day, it is considered a worthy cause, and the pub will be able to make use of the services of Print shops in Lutterworth, if it wants to add a poster or sign encouraging customers to use it. The decision to support Water Aid came about as a result of a partnership with the local Rotary Club, which has spearheaded the charity aspect of the restoration.

The Rotary Club is a longstanding supporter of Water Aid, which has succeeded in providing education and health improvements to over 13 million people throughout the world who live without access to clean water.
