Lutterworth may become more welcoming to visitors

A new initiative has the potential to make Lutterworth into a more ‘visitor friendly’ town.

The scheme could have an impact on Lutterworth and Market Harborough. A Kendal-based policy has inspired the local promotion of the idea. Business card printing can receive a boost if businesses engage in networking with other businesses and their visitors.

It is partly the simplicity of the concept that could lead to its adoption in Lutterworth. The hope is that local enterprises will permit the free use of their toilets. It is thought that shops, pubs and attractions could take up the proposal. A spokesperson for Blend Coffee and Cakes, which is situated in Manor Walk, told the Harborough Mail:

“We do that all the time anyway, so we’d have no problem with the scheme.”

It may well be that business opposition to the possible way forward could be limited. Sophie Collick gave an opinion on behalf of the management at Millers Cafe. She would not be opposed to participating in the venture if the initiative is rolled out across the town.

In Kendal, it appears that the visitor friendly vision is working well in practice. The Kendal Courtesy Toilet Scheme (KCTS) is promoted by the local tourist office. Companies that are engaged in the delivery of the scheme indicate that they are keen to provide the service. This is achieved by their use of door stickers.
