Grace Holford has sacrificed 10 inches from her locks to help the Little Princess Trust organisation, a Hereford-based charity that provides wigs for those youngsters who have suffered hair loss as a result of treatment for cancer.
Her mum, Diane Holford, told a reporter from the Lutterworth Mail that the decision to have her hair cut for the charity was Grace’s own – after she heard her mother and aunt discussing its work – and that she had initially been opposed to the idea. She explains:
“My daughter heard us talking and said ‘I want to do that as well mummy’.
“My sister was then apologetic and cringing in the background, but Grace was very determined.”
Since then, Grace has made it a mission to generate cash for the Little Princess Trust, so that a wig can be made from the cut hair, and local fundraising efforts of this type can always turn to poster printing in Lutterworth to help spread the word.
Cllr Philip Toye, the Mayor of Lutterworth, was in attendance to witness the haircut, and so far Grace has already succeeded in raising well over £1,000.
Those who wish to make a cash donation in support of the Little Princess Trust and Grace can do so online.
