People who live in Lutterworth and the wider Leicestershire area are being encouraged to put their names down for a national project to find volunteers for the upcoming coronation.
This project has been given the name The Big Help Out and the King and Queen Consort are both lending their backing to it. Aside from getting people involved in their area’s planning for the Coronation celebrations, the project is also intended to highlight the value of doing voluntary work to help make the place that you live in a better one for all residents.
It is being rolled out across the country, including Lutterworth. Prominent local figures such as Mike Kapur OBE, who is the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and King Charles’ representative within the county, have already signed up for a special litter pick on the day of the project.
Kapur has stated that he hopes to prompt others into signing up and to show what a difference voluntary work can make. Promotional poster printing that is provided by shops in Lutterworth can also help to encourage people to take part in events of this sort.
He also said that the scheme would allow people to honour those who already serve their local communities in addition to giving more people the impetus to start doing so.
The Big Help Out is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 8.
