Lutterworth charity walk planned by pensioner

A pensioner who lives on the outskirts of Lutterworth is planning to take on a walk to raise money for charity, and he is looking for sponsors to back him in this challenge.

Paul Blake is 80 years old and lives in Leire, a village to the north of Lutterworth. Despite being in his eighth decade, he remains in very good physical shape – and he will need to be for the challenge he has set himself.

Blake is intending to walk a distance of 80 kilometres, with each one representing a year of his life. This will be completed in 24 hours and is all in aid of charity.

Blake is aiming to raise cash for an organisation called the MND Association. This provides help for people who have motor neurone disease (MND). His interest in that cause was sparked by the fact that many rugby stars get the disease, and Blake is a former amateur rugby player.

Local people who are taking on fundraising challenges sometimes use flyer printing shops in Lutterworth. That is because Flyers can be a quick and cost-effective way of promoting their activities.

Blake has stated that he still walks regularly, so is confident he can handle this task. He will start his challenge at Lutterworth Rugby Club, which will also be the finish point.

He will start his walk on Friday, 25 October.
