Lutterworth Golf Club was originally founded more than 100 years ago, back in 1904. As of today, it boasts a membership of around 700 people from the town and the wider area, but it has been closed since May last year, when a fire rampaged through it and burned the clubhouse to the ground.
Now there are hopes that it will rise like a phoenix, with ambitious plans for reconstruction awaiting a decision. These plans include building a brand new clubhouse to replace the one that was destroyed during the fire, as well as adding accommodation for the green-keeper and a new shop.

According to the Harborough Mail, the application states that:
“The new facilities will offer greater benefits to members of the club, as well as members of the Lutterworth community, as the new proposal will include meeting rooms, function rooms and a golf teaching area.”
It then adds that, if given the go-ahead, it would boost the club’s reputation.
