The people who run the main foodbank in Lutterworth have now taken receipt of a major donation, following a fundraising event that was held in the town.
Lutterworth and Villages Food Bank is a vital resource for many local people, but it is always in need of donations. This is why Wycliffe Bowls Club opted to make it the recipient of the money raised at its recent charity match. This event took place towards the end of last year, but a representative from the club attended the foodbank earlier in the month to present the cheque.
The charity bowls match succeeded in raising more than £1,000 for the foodbank and this was gratefully accepted. The members of the club also expressed their delight at being able to do something to assist their fellow residents, especially during the winter period.
When local organisations are putting together charity events like this, flyer printing from shops in Lutterworth can potentially be useful in spreading the word about them.
The club used a number of different methods to raise money on the day. These included charging fees for people to watch the match and holding an auction. It also topped up the final amount with private donations.
In addition to club members, the charity match was also thrown open to players from other parts of the county. This increased its appeal.
