Expansion planned for logistics park in Lutterworth

A logistics park in Lutterworth that is already among the largest in the whole of Europe is set for further expansion, with planning permission having been granted for the project.

GLP applied to the local council for planning permission to build another four warehouses at Magna Park Lutterworth, which will add up to 1.4 million ft of storage space at the facility. Three of the new warehouses, MPS Units 9 to 11, will be built at Magna Park South, while the fourth one – called MPN 5 – will be added to Magna Park North.

These new warehouses are being constructed on a speculative basis, with no companies as yet lined up to move into them. Firms that do decide to base themselves there can turn to shops in Lutterworth that supply useful items like printed Business Cards if they need them for networking events.

GLP is stating that the three warehouses to be built in the South area of the park will meet Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Excellent standard certification. The one in the North area will achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification.

Furthermore, GLP has also committed to carbon footprint reduction for companies within the new warehouses, by offering Planet Mark programmes to them for tracking carbon emissions free of charge.

It is expected that the four new warehouse buildings will be finished by next spring.
