Delay to expansion of Lutterworths Magna Park

Harborough District Council is poised to determine the future of Lutterworth’s Magna Park.

The process has been drawn out because of public concern about aspects of the expansion plan. In effect, planning consent to some of the scheme was put on hold. While the council will now have to take account of local sentiment, it will also have to consider the business case. Symmetry Park and Magna Park North have the potential to generate 9,000 jobs near Lutterworth. This would be a big prize for an area which benefits from the proximity of the M1.

The Plans involve the construction of offices and warehouses. Stationery printers near Lutterworth could receive a boost if the initiative does get the green light. The developers involved in the project will be seeking to get their message across to the community prior to an important meeting in the middle of December.

The two developers behind the ambitious proposals are IDI Gazeley and DB Symmetry. The latter business is confident that it could contribute around 3,500 jobs to the local economy.

IDI Gazeley is the current owner of Magna Park. It would like to add accommodation for start-ups, an institute of logistics and a heritage centre to what the area has to offer. IDI Gazeley recognises the need for an inclusive approach and has the aspiration of putting a playing field into the mix.
