Max Faulkner, who is a pupil at Lutterworth High School, was competing in the 2015 FutureChef competition organised by the charity Springboard, and came out victorious in the East Midlands final.
This event took place at Loughborough College and saw Max, 13, defeat nine rivals from throughout the region, earning himself a spot in the national final of the competition in the process.
A menu consisting of sea bass and potato rosti served with celeriac puree and samphire, followed with lemon tart and raspberry dessert, was the winning food formula for Max on the day.
Catering company professional Riccardo Corbinzolu was the head judge for the final, and afterwards he told the Lutterworth Mail:
“I’ve worked with professionals who would have been delighted to have produced the results Max did and he really stood out.”
Regional competition heats and finals such as this one often make use of poster printing in Lutterworth and similar areas, to help publicise them to people living there.
Max reached this stage of the FutureChef competition by winning the Leicestershire and Rutland final, held in January, and he will now showcase his culinary prowess in the national final at London’s Westminster Kingsway College, on 23rd March.
