Charity bike ride proves a success

Hundreds of local cycling enthusiasts made their way along the rural roads of south Leicestershire recently, as part of a cycle ride intended to raise cash for good causes.

The Rotary Club of Lutterworth organised the charity event – which was called the Big Bike Ride – and it saw entrants begin and end their ride at Misterton Hall.

In between, they cycled along one of four countryside routes, taking in much of the county, with some of them even making their way into the adjacent Northamptonshire.

A spokesman for the club, Peter Osborn, told the Lutterworth Mail that the event had benefited from excellent weather on the day, adding that they had enjoyed similar good fortune in previous years.

This is the third successive year that the Big Bike Ride has taken place, and the 434 entrants that the 2015 event attracted set a new record.

Local charity events such as this frequently employ the services of places providing banner printing in Lutterworth, to help promote them beforehand and on the day.

Entrants had the choice of taking part in the laid-back 11-mile event or one of the tougher ones covering 23, 39 or 62 miles, depending on their level of fitness.

It has been confirmed that the Big Bike Ride 2015 brought in approximately £3,000, with this sum set to be divided between Rotary Charities and Epilepsy Research.
