What's Happening in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, England…

Cafe in Lutterworth could be converted to takeaway

A cafe in Lutterworth could be set for conversion into a takeaway, with plans for this having been sent to Harborough District Council.

The man behind the plans is Abdullah Palas and the cafe that he wants to convert is on Linden Drive. At the moment, it goes by the name Cafe Rustica. Before that, the unit was home to a newsagent called Mercury News. Now it could be turned into an outlet that offers takeaway food, with the application indicating that it would be open every day.

This application also states that it would offer hot food, although it does not provide any clues as to the type of cuisine. Nor does it mention whether the name of the outlet would be changed, if it becomes a takeaway.

What the planning application does make clear though is that the flat situated on the floor above would be left as it is. The application also indicates that the proposed new takeaway would keep at least the same number of employees.

The cafe employs three part-time and one-full time worker, but that number could potentially rise if the application succeeds. There is a section within the document that refers to more jobs.

Poster and flyer printing by Lutterworth shops is one of the ways in which takeaways and cafes can be advertised locally.

The council decision should be made during May.
