This bid to stop the Feilding Palmer Hospital from being shut down is being supported by local councillor Martin Sarfas. He recently organised a special action day to raise awareness of the situation and over 300 residents of Lutterworth and the wider area opted to sign the petition within hours of this. That takes the total number backing the campaign to more than 2,000.

Feilding Palmer Hospital stands in Gilmorton Road, Lutterworth, and was originally built 123 years ago. Cllr Sarfas told the Harborough Mail that the response to the petition clearly showed that people in the town wanted the hospital and its services to remain open.
He then went on to add:
“Now we will push on until we are satisfied that the campaign is won and Lutterworth has the medical facilities it so richly deserves.”
He also offered his thanks to others who are lending their backing to this campaign, including Mary Guppy, who is leading it.
