The Shambles is situated on Bell Street, in the heart of Lutterworth, and is famed for its distinctive thatched roof. It was the roof where the fire caught hold last February, with drinkers helped to get out of the building by the local fire service after the interior started to fill with smoke. Happily no one was injured, but one of the most popular venues in the town was shuttered.
However, work to repair and rebuild has been taking place over the past few months and now this iconic watering hole is almost ready to welcome visitors again. The final touches are taking place to the inside of the pub at the moment.
The owners of popular local venues can use banner printing from shops in Lutterworth if they open again after an absence, to advertise the fact by hanging a banner outside the building.
Manager Stacey Castle said to the Leicester Mercury:
“We’re excited for a new start and it’s good to see how well it’s coming on.”
She then went on to add that there is no exact opening date confirmed, but it is likely to be the middle of April.
