Amazon to open Lutterworth delivery hub

E-commerce giant Amazon has announced that it Plans to launch a massive new delivery centre in Lutterworth later in the summer, which will bring jobs to the area.

Amazon Logistics will be opening this delivery centre, which is set to measure 409,000 sq. ft., at Magna Park in Lutterworth. This is not far from the A5 and the enormous hub will handle deliveries for people in the wider Leicestershire area. Furthermore, a spokesperson for the company has stated that it will also lead to the creation of jobs for over 50 people in Lutterworth.

These will be permanent jobs within the centre, but there will vacancies for drivers as well. Stationery printers in the local area often help to keep centres like this running properly by meeting their administrative needs.

Speaking to Business Live, Alberto Costa, the MP for South Leicestershire, said:



“I am delighted to welcome Amazon to South Leicestershire, as one of the world’s largest businesses and employers delivering thousands of items across the UK every day, I am sure they will fit in very well at Magna Park in Lutterworth.”




He went on to add that the arrival of the centre would give a much-needed lift to the economy of the area and that he was keen to visit once it opened.

A date for the opening is still to be confirmed.
