What's Happening in London - Aldgate, England…

Railway station near Aldgate to be revamped

The main railway station in the City of London is set to undergo a major redevelopment, after the planning application for it was approved by the council.

Liverpool Street Station is located right at the heart of the capital’s financial district, not far from Aldgate. The station is owned and managed by Network Rail and that company submitted an application to revamp it, which has now been given the green light. The aim of the project is to bring the station up to contemporary standards and to ensure that it is able to meet rising customer demand.

This station handles roughly 118 million customers each year, which makes it one of the top transport centres in London. It links the capital city with much of eastern England, including East Anglia. The number of passengers using the station is expected to rise to more than 158 million within the next 15 years.

Stationery printers that are based in Aldgate can be useful to local transport hubs like this one. They can provide admin forms as well as timetables.

Speaking to New Civil Engineer, Andy Lord from Transport for London said:

“Network Rail’s vision for the station gives us an opportunity to work together to provide the excellent levels of customer satisfaction we want everyone to experience as they travel across our networks.”

No start date has been announced yet.
