Work starts on new factory in Ansty Park

London Taxi Company (LTC) will soon have a factory within Ansty Park in Coventry.

Construction efforts, which will cost about £250 million, have begun on the site. The idea of the LTC plan is that the facility will enable research and development, as well as assembly. A Print company in Coventry could be used to help recruitment. Peter Johansen, the chief executive for LTC, has recently said:

“Today marks another important step forward for the company and our employees as we prepare to produce the next generation of ultra-low emission vehicles here in Ansty.”

Local MP Mark Pawsey was also there at an event where the ground was broken in a ceremonial fashion to symbolise the beginning of the work. He has said that the local economy should benefit from the creation of skilled employment as a consequence of the development.

The schedule for the new car to be released has been established. The vehicle should be available within the UK during the last part of 2017. However, it will only be possible to get hold of the car abroad during the course of the next year.

It has been envisaged that the new generation of cabs will not cause much pollution. This would ensure that they comply with fresh regulations being introduced in the capital.

LTC already has a site in Coventry. It was established back in 1948 and approximately 130,000 iconic cabs have been manufactured on the assembly line there.
