Not far to go for Cov regen

The much-anticipated opening of the FarGo Village regeneration scheme is just months away, after the project organisers confirmed that Coventry's 'answer to Camden' will open up in the autumn.

The village, the last step in the regeneration of Far Gosford Street, is hoped to attract creative industries and talent to the city. With a colourful yet guarded launch event promised, complete with poster printing and a whole host of activities on the day, tasters will be taking place across Coventry in the run up.

There will also be a special preview at the forthcoming Godiva Show.

The project has been a long time in the making and, at a joint public-private cost of £30 million, many local people will be intrigued to see what the last 10 years has delivered.

For councillor Kevin Maton, it is a very exciting time. Explaining how the area will become 'fun' and 'full of life', he said:

“It’s central to the regeneration of the Far Gosford Street area and builds on the work that has already taken place in this unique and historic street.

“Regeneration like this is gradual, it’s organic and it has local people at the heart of it. It really is a success story.”

Promising more than 50 venue, bars, cafes and creative areas, FarGo Village will be open to the public for the first time on September 27th and 28th.
