Manufacturers upbeat in Coventry region

Recent research by the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber highlights manufacturing strength.

The regional chamber of commerce releases reports on a quarterly basis and the latest report indicates that local manufacturers are more confident than they were last year. The gap in confidence is almost seven points. As a result, demand for branded office Stationery from Coventry is likely to grow.

Warwickshire County Council (WCC) played a partnership role in the research. WCC’s Dave Ayton-Hill pointed out that a weaker pound has helped those manufacturing businesses which export. However, he added that domestic orders were still solid.

The chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber, Louise Bennett, told the Coventry Observer:

“The results make fascinating reading and it’s great to see that manufacturing is growing in this area and is confident about its ability to grow in the future. The likes of Jaguar Land Rover are a big part of that but what we are seeing is many other manufacturers thriving in our area and growing their order Books.”

The survey-based research is fed into the work of the British Chamber of Commerce. The statistics can then be used to provide insights into the development of the economy as a whole. The weaker pound seems to have had a mixed impact on the fortunes of British business. This is because inflation has diminished demand for sections of the service sector.
