Easter egg hunt in Coventry city centre boosts business

Businesses in and around Coventry city centre have had a real boost to trade thanks to an Easter egg hunt that took place in the area.

The Business Improvement District in Coventry organised the hunt, which ran over two days in April and encouraged local families to search through various pre-designated zones in the town. Colour coded eggs had been hidden in shops in these zones and participants in the hunt had to collect these and submit them to the organisers to be entered into a prize draw.

Prizes were donated by local businesses in return for the extra footfall that they would experience as part of the event. Prizes ranged from a chocolate bunny to a luxury holiday worth £1,000. These prizes attracted entrants in their droves.

The event encouraged people to explore shops that they might not usually go into, helping to boost trade for those businesses which were involved in the event.

The Cabinet member for city development at Coventry City Council, Lynette Kelly, commented on the event, saying:

“This is exactly the type of city centre event we need more of, not only does it engage the community, but it also provides a welcome boost to city centre traders during this time of economic uncertainty.”

By helping to facilitate events like this, and by using traditional promotional tools created using techniques like POS printing, Coventry businesses can continue to thrive in what is otherwise a challenging economic climate.
