"The Primitives - Homecoming" is due to take place in the band’s native city of Coventry in mid-December.
This indie band arrived on the UK pop scene in the mid-1980s, and are best remembered for the 1988 top five hit "Crash". Their first album "Lovely" met with wide acclaim, and this was followed up by "Pure" and "Galore", as well as more chart success. There were also European and US tours before they broke up in 1992.
In 2009, the band reformed to play a memorial gig for bass player Steve Dullaghan, having had their song "Really Stupid" listed by Mojo magazine as a UK all-time top 40 hit single the previous year. This success led them to embark on a UK tour in April 2010, together with some European and US shows. Albums of new material followed in 2012 and 2014, and a five-CD box set became available in 2020 on Cherry Red Records.
The Primitives present line-up consists of original group members Paul Court (guitar/vocals), Tracy Tracy (vocals), and Tig Williams (drums), and they continue to tour.
Tickets cost £14.85 inclusive of a booking fee. Flyer printing can be an effective way of promoting a local concert or musical event.
The gig has a starting time of 7:00 pm on Friday, December 17 at The HMV Empire, Coventry.
