Coventry could get two new padel courts

Two brand new padel courts could be set for construction at parks in Coventry, as the local council seeks to capitalise on the growing popularity of that sport.

Coventry City Council has unveiled Plans for these facilities at War Memorial Park and Longford Park. The first of those will be a bit more complicated, due to the Charitable Trustee status of the local authority. This means it will have to secure special approval to construct the court in War Memorial Park. The setting that it has chosen is next to the tennis courts.

Now, the council will have to arrange a meeting of its Shareholder’s Committee, so that it can get the necessary approval. If it is granted, the plan is to seek operators for both of the padel courts together – although they could be run by two separate companies.

When the council opens new facilities in the city, it is usually keen to promote them to local people. One way to do that is by going to Coventry shops that supply brochure printing.

The council’s deputy leader is Abdul Salam Khan. He told the Coventry Telegraph that the council was always keen to add new amenities, before stating:
“Padel courts are becoming really popular, and it could be a great addition to both the War Memorial Park and Longford Park.”

They could be ready as early as next summer.
