NHS contract for centre in Clapham
It has been announced that The Awareness Centre (TAC), which is based in Clapham, has secured a contract with the NHS lasting for a three-year period to offer psychotherapy and counselling services.
The South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust is behind the contract, which will form part of a wider new initiative that is being called Talk Wandsworth. It will see TAC work alongside the organisation Improving Access to Psychological Therapies to provide a service based around talking therapy for the clinical commissioning group in Wandsworth.
Beginning in April of next year, TAC will be offering support to people in Clapham and Wandsworth who are suffering from mental health problems, via GP surgery-based counselling sessions.
This service is aiming to assist around 25,000 residents of the borough who are experiencing stress, depression and anxiety, and will include therapists of both sexes and cover a variety of languages, to meet the needs of local people.
Speaking to the Wandsworth Guardian, the managing director for TAC, Michaela McCarthy, stated that:
Organisations that are located in Clapham, such as this one, can always choose to take advantage of places that print business forms, to help ensure that they have the official materials they need.
