New hotel near Clapham planned
A brand new hotel, plus housing, could be set to be constructed at a location not far from Clapham.
Governside Ltd is hoping to build this hotel and a number of flats in Balham High Road, just outside Clapham. If the local council gives its approval, the company wants to take a building there that is currently two storeys high and extend it to five storeys.
Two of the additional floors would be used for a hotel consisting of 18 rooms with 36 beds and ensuite bathrooms. There would also be a shared room for laundry and food preparation amenities.
The bottom floor of this building currently houses a branch of Snappy Snaps, but this would be shut down so that it can be turned into an entrance lobby. The branch of Pret a Manger on this floor would remain in place.
The new fourth floor of the building would be used for flats.
