Clapham to get new splash pad facility

A splash pad that is being touted as a cutting-edge new facility for water play by the local council is being installed at a site on Clapham Common, with work on it having started late last month.

This splash pad will come with a variety of multi-function jets spraying out water to ensure that the youngsters who use it enjoy a sensory experience. It is being built as a replacement for the current paddling pool on the Common, which has been a fixture there for around 70 years but which the council has decided is no longer fit for purpose.

Other amenities that will be created as part of the project include cargo and ordinary bike parking areas and toilets suitable for children. The new water play facility is being built as one phase of the Clapham Common Masterplan. Close to £1 million is being spent on new facilities in the borough through that.

Poster printing from Clapham shops would be one way that the council could promote this new facility to families who live in the district once it is ready to open.

Speaking to Brixton Buzz, Rezina Chowdhury from the council said:

“This new water play facility is an exciting addition to Clapham Common and an example of Lambeth Council’s commitment to investing in sustainable, community-focused initiatives.”

It will open during the summer.
