Clapham to get new pizzeria

Pizzeria chain Radio Alice is set to launch its second outlet in the UK during the early summer, with Clapham’s Venn Street chosen as the location.

Salvatore and Matteo Aloe, who own the company, started out with an eatery called Berbere Bologna, in their native Italy. This became a huge success following its launch seven years ago and led to the opening of further branches throughout the country, including in Milan, Turin and Florence.

Now they appear to be repeating their success in the UK, having opened a popular outlet in Hoxton during 2016, and the Clapham launch is the next stage. It will measure 2,000 sq. ft. and feature a range of authentic Italian pizza and dessert options.

The unusual name Radio Alice comes from a pirate radio station that enjoyed huge popularity in Italy during the 1970s, with songs from that decade set to be played in the restaurant to help capture the retro feel. Matteo told The Caterer:
“Our pizzas are as much about the organic sourdough base as they are about seasonal toppings. Quality Italian produce is crucial and we only use the very best ingredients that we’d want to serve to our friends, family and now the Clapham community.”

The Clapham branch will open in June and new restaurants often use places offering promotional drinkware.
