Clapham to get new housing scheme

A sizeable new housing scheme is set to be built at a location in Clapham, after the planning applications committee set up by Lambeth Council opted to give it the green light.

The housing association called Metropolitan is behind these plans, which will see 2,532 homes built at the chosen site, situated between Streatham Hill and Clapham Common. In addition to the new housing, the ambitious project is also set to see office and retail units, as well as amenities for the community, constructed there.

The first stage will involve the demolition of the houses and a facility for bus drivers that are on the site at present. Over 50% of the new houses are to be affordable, while one out of every ten will be adaptable for wheelchair users.

The architects who designed it are PRP and the firm has sought to incorporate plenty of facilities for wellbeing and fitness into its design – such as fitness stations and routes for jogging. Richard Harvey from PRP told Architects Journal that:

“We are proud to be working with Metropolitan in the design and delivery of their vision for the regeneration of Clapham Park.”

Builders, architects and anyone involved in the construction industry often turn to local printers to have brochures printed so that they can showcase the finished article to the public.
