Clapham to get new festival dedicated to comedy

There is great news for fans of live comedy, with the announcement that a brand new festival dedicated to humour is launching in Clapham.

This festival has been given the name ‘Rosebuds’, and according to organisers, it is set to offer those who attend six days of the finest live comedy in the country. There will be over 20 different artists performing as part of the line-up, which has been selected to represent a diverse range of comic styles. This means people can expect traditional stand-up alongside mockumentaries, musical comedy and slapstick clowning.

Some of the acts who have already been confirmed to appear include Isabella Thompson, with her show ‘Plaything’; Caroline Barton performing a show entitled ‘Pineapple Princess’; and Sophie Banister. She will bring a show called ‘Let Me Be the Cool Aunt’ to the festival.

The whole thing is the brainchild of The Defectors, a comedy troupe that consists of James Darby, Daniel Hemsley and Harrison Cole. They are putting it together and have secured The Bread & Roses Theatre as a venue for it.

Clapham venues often turn to shops that provide brochure printing when it comes to events like this festival. This enables them to stock brochures informing people what performances will be featured.

The Rosebuds festival will be taking place between 28 January and 2 February.
