Clapham Grand aiming to be wrestling hub
The Clapham Grand could become one of the UK’s premier venues for televised wrestling, following the success of two events it has hosted since the start of the year, including the recent WrestleMania 33.
This viewing party was held at the former music hall, which is located at St John’s Hill in Clapham, on 2nd April. It was the second wrestling event to be screened there this year, following January’s Royal Rumble party, which saw the venue packed out.
WrestleMania 33 gave fans a chance to watch live coverage of the flagship WWE event, which takes place at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl. It proved to be another big hit and is all part of the Clapham Grand’s plans to become London’s main wrestling home.
Plans for more live events are being developed, including an IPW:UK show and an audience with William Scott Goldberg, the WWE Universal Champion. Speaking to SW Londoner, Chris Stemp, the marketing manager for the Grand, stated that:

“The atmosphere watching it here is second to none. We put so much more into the production of the show and the setting. It’s a lot more of an experience to come out rather than just if you were sat watching it at home.”
