What's Happening in London - Clapham, England…

Christmas charity run to take place in Clapham

The streets of Clapham are set to be filled with thousands of people wearing red and white Father Christmas outfits next month, as they take part in a fun run for charity.

The London Santa Dash is an annual festive event and this year’s run will be starting off at Clapham Common. Those taking part have to run either 10km or 5km while wearing Santa Claus outfits. The event is open to people of any age. The money raised through the run will be going to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

It is hoped that £300,000 can be raised through the colourful Christmas race, which would be used to pay for support services, refurbishing and repairs, and pieces of equipment for the cutting edge research that takes place at the hospital.

Around 3,000 people from Clapham and other parts of London are expected to enter the fun run this year, meaning each individual needs to aim for sponsorship of £100. Printing services are often used to help create posters to advertise events of this sort.

Everyone who decides to enter will get a hot mug of mulled wine and a medal when they reach the finish line, while there will be live post-run entertainment on offer. The London Santa Dash for 2018 is due to take place on Sunday December 9th.
