Arts theatre enjoys grand opening
A brand new theatre for the performing arts, located not far from Clapham, has enjoyed its grand opening, with Sadiq Khan, the current Mayor of London, doing the honours.
Khan, who formerly served as Tooting’s Member of Parliament, was on hand to officially launch the Tara Theatre at the beginning of the month. This venue offers seating for 100 people and is situated on Garratt Lane, Earlsfield, just outside Clapham.
The mayor grew up in this area, having lived on the Henry Prince Estate when he was younger and has long championed the work done by Tara Arts. Speaking to a reporter from the Wandsworth Guardian, he stated that:
The redevelopment that has taken place at the venue was able to happen thanks to the financial backing of more than 1,400 people, several foundations and trusts and Arts Council England. Alongside the new auditorium, Tara Theatre now offers a patio garden, a bar, offices on the rooftop, a space for workshops and a rehearsal studio that is completely soundproofed.
Venues such as this can always call upon places in Clapham that provide catalogue printing, when it comes to showcasing their performances.
