Warm weather boosts tourism in Bath

The warmer weather that has brightened up most of the UK over recent weeks has given tourism in the south west of England a much needed boost.

Tourism officers for Bath and Somerset say that over half a million people visited the area over the second May bank holiday. This influx of visitors was very much welcomed by both the tourism office and local businesses, many of which had been feeling the negative effects of a cold spring season.

Warmer temperatures often encourage people to get involved with the current trend for 'staycationing' – a buzz word for holidaying in the UK and avoiding the tradition of deserting local economies in favour of sunnier shores.

Tourism is a vital part of life in Bath. Visiting travellers account for a significant amount of revenue with a host of bed and breakfasts, hotels, restaurants and tourism attractions relying on visitors to ensure survival.

Printing companies in Bath also work closely with the tourism officers in the region to produce promotional leaflets and Posters that drive visitors to the area’s many attractions. Popular techniques include flyer and poster printing.

Bath tourism officials hope the boost brought on by the recent weather is here to stay. Initial weather forecasts for June suggest the month could be one of the warmest in recent years, with temperatures set to soar to the high 20s.

The hottest UK Summer on record happened in 1976, when temperatures reached 35.9 °C. This summer may not bring enough sunshine to replicate this, but with pleasant temperatures forecast, the outlook is bright.
