The Break The Cycle journey, which is in excess of 100 miles, will include Kingsholm in Gloucester. All the money raised by the efforts of the cyclists will be put into community funds associated with Bath Rugby, Gloucester Rugby and Bristol Rugby.
More than 500 participants are scheduled to ride on 14th June. Extra publicity for the big day could be generated by the use of poster printing in Bath. The event has been held on four previous occasions, despite the traditional rivalry between the three rugby clubs.
Mandy Gardner, who is the Bath Rugby Foundation’s general manager, has already got concrete ideas of where the money to be raised should go. Gardner has said she wants to continue investment in inclusion and education projects in parts of Somerset, Wiltshire, and Bath.
Gary Little, a manager at Gloucester Rugby, has stressed the importance of historic links between the clubs. Little has appealed for even more supporters of the club to get involved in the challenge.
Ben Breeze, the chief executive officer of Bristol Rugby Community Foundation, has said:
“Break The Cycle continues to go from strength to strength and, this year, we’re delighted to have the support of Bath Rugby Foundation and Gloucester Rugby.”
