A new production of "The Play What I Wrote", presented by David Pugh, is due to take place in Bath in mid-January.
This is the story of a double act, Hamish and Sean, where Hamish has penned a classic work set at the time of the French Revolution, but Sean is eager that for their stage partnership to go on after an absence of two years. He is convinced that if only they performed a Morecambe & Wise tribute show, Hamish would rediscover his enthusiasm and the duo could continue.
Every previous performance has included an appearance from a mystery guest, with Ewan McGregor, Sting, Kylie Minogue, Sir Ian McKellen, Joanna Lumley and Nigel Havers among those who have previously surprised audiences.
This new version was written by Hamish McColl, Sean Foley and Eddie Braben, with McColl and Foley giving their names to the lead characters.
The Daily Telegraph described it as “a loving celebration of comic genius”, while a similarly glowing review from The Observer described it as “a delirium tremendous”. The Daily Telegraph, Independent and Guardian also gave the production high praise.
Tickets start at £28 and a booking fee applies. Poster printing is an effective way of promoting a forthcoming theatrical production.
The play will be staged between January 11 to 22, 2022 at The Theatre Royal, Bath.
