About 300 parking spaces will be created to service the needs of
the RUH. When the work is completed, sign printing could be used to mark the location for visitors to the hospital. The goal of the initiative is to boost parking availability by almost a third, and residents in the region of Bath may be pleased that there will be no increase in parking charges as a result of the policy. Howard Jones, a director at the hospital, said:
"This new car park is great news for our patients and families. It will make visiting the hospital a much better experience for everyone, as well as easing some of the parking pressures on site and on residential roads nearby."
Patients and visitors will be permitted to use the new parking spaces. The car park is going to be positioned close to the main entrance of the hospital. It has been reported that the contractor is MJ Church. Landscaping is necessary because the site used to feature a laboratory, and the local contractor is due to finish the work during the autumn of this year.
The planning authority for Bath and North East Somerset approved the scheme in 2015. The work was justified as part of a £100 million development proposal for the hospital as a whole.
