Bath Carnival is taking place this weekend and is expected to bring the party atmosphere and the Caribbean spirit to the city.
The celebration – which has events scheduled for both the daytime and the evening – will begin at 11am on Saturday, 16th August in Sydney Gardens and bring a whole day of fun and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
As part of the entertainment, a music stage will be set up in the park that will host live entertainment for the crowds and will include performances from a variety of acts, including Ben Badoo, Jukebox Live, the Clunks, and Benji Clements.
As well as live music, there will be an interactive dance zone that will play host to free workshops and demonstrations led by African Sambistas, Bath Salsa, and Jorge Cuban Dance. This will bring a fun Caribbean flare to the streets of Bath and will be topped off with a performance from the dance students of Stroud College.
Spectators are encouraged to join in the fun by making their own costumes for the parade during another free workshop at the Holburne Museum. The parade will make use of banner printing to create an eye-catching spectacle.
One of the main attractions of the festival will be a 200-strong procession through the city centre starting in Great Pulteney Street from 6.30pm. Event organisers are expecting the event to be a success.
