The event, which begins on 7th September in Liverpool, will come to Bath five days later. Prior to the 12th September push-off here, the world's best riders will race from Worcester to Bristol, finishing that 113 mile stage under the colourful banner printing on Clifton Downs.
Starting amid more Banners, Posters and crowd flags on the Royal Avenue, Bath and North East Somerset Council said the local course will also take in Salisbury Plain.
Speaking about the course, the director of the race, Mick Bennett, said:
"[it is] one that we are very much looking forward to."
From leaving the local roads, the cyclists will continue to cover a total of 124 miles in the day's race as they descend upon Hemel Hempstead to the east.
The peloton will then prepare for the race's final stages, which comes to its exciting climax in London on 14th September.
The Tour of Britain was for a long time a very poor relation in the cycling road racing world.
However, since its revival in 2004 and the continued success of the British Olympic cycling team – along with the recent Tour de France successes of Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins – the event has gone from strength to strength.
Now a just one grading below the famous race south of the English Channel, Bennett said it was fitting that the 'world famous' Bath should host a tour stage start.Get a Free Quote for Banners Get a Free Quote for Posters
