Bath restaurant to return as pub

After being closed for the last two years, a restaurant based in Bath will now reopen as a pub.

A Bath venue owned by the Restaurant Group that once traded under the Garfunkel’s brand as an eatery is set to become a licenced bar following a licensing application made to the local authority. The Grade II listed premises located on Grand Parade in Bath’s city centre was one of many of the group’s sites that were closed when the business restructured and lost its licence due to what SomersetLive.co.uk describes as “an administrative error”.

Restaurants and public houses can both take advantage of local printing services to create professional Menus that list available food and beverages to their customers.

Minutes from the North East Somerset Council’s dedicated licensing subcommittee commented on the proposal and the decision to grant it a license:

“Members find in the context of licensing today, Covid recovery and the steps taken by UK government to support the hospitality industry, the application as presented demonstrates the premises have and could operate without adding to the cumulative impact already experienced.”

The Restaurant Group has previously stated that it intended to spend £1m on the Bath site of Garfunkel’s. Recently, a spokesperson for the company stated it was still seeking to invest in the location and it is now likely to reopen next year.
