Bath prospers in city break vote

The city of Bath came second in a vote which tried to discover the most popular destination for urban breaks in the UK.

London was the favourite city among the voters. However, Bath beat all its provincial rivals in the competition.

The contest in which Bath did so well was held by the National Express Group, and was called the Go-Britain Awards. The success of the place in the regional category of Best City Breaks means that the accolade could be featured in leaflets about Bath. An executive at National Express, Tom Stables, has told the Bath Chronicle:

“Bath is one of our top coach destinations and for good reason – it's easily accessible with fantastic history and historic architecture - it's fantastic to see this gem top the polls in our first-ever Go Britain Awards.”

Voters had a variety of reasons for being positive about Bath. One tourist from Suffolk commented that the small size of the city was an advantage for the visitor who wants to tick off plenty of things during an initial visit. They also stressed the beauty of the place.

A voter from Derby was really enthusiastic about certain features of the city. In particular, they focused on the remarkable architecture of Bath. They were also fascinated by the legacy of the Romans. In addition, they emphasised how handy the abundance of tearooms and restaurants can be.
