The Bath Children’s Novel Award is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It is a competition that is targeted at new writers and is open to those who are self-published or unpublished. The only other rule is that entrants for it cannot be represented by an agent. Among the past winners of the award are Matthew Fox and Struan Murray, both of whom are now professional writers.
Now the competition has a new judge, with Enrichetta Frezzato having been picked for this role. She is employed by the Curtis Brown literary agency, which is one of the biggest in the UK.
Talking to The Bookseller after her appointment was announced, Frezzato said that:
“I am honoured to judge the next Bath Children’s Novel Award. Over the years, it has been the stepping stone in so many brilliant writers’ careers and I’ve been a long-time admirer of the spirit and quality of the awards.”
Poster printing that is supplied by shops in the area is one of the ways in which competitions like this can be promoted, alongside things like online advertising.
The closing date for submissions is 30th November and the winner will be revealed next February.
