Bath firm pledges to address obesity

Paragon Structures, near Bath, is hoping to reduce obesity by constructing centres for sports.

The development company is located a couple of miles south of Bath. The team of parents is passionate about fighting obesity. This will involve the delivery of affordable state-of-the-art solutions. The idea is that a range of educational institutions will collaborate with the project. Leaflet printers in Bath may be used for promotional purposes.

Alan Phillips, the chief executive, informed the Bath Chronicle:

“One of the things we've also found an issue with in the UK is the price of facilities so not just people's monthly contributions to them but building the facilities themselves makes it quite cost prohibitive in the long run.”

Paragon Structures was established last year and the firm is now working with a manufacturing enterprise called Sprung, an organisation based in Canada. The hope is that sporting facilities can be created which are aesthetically pleasing inside and out.

The way the operation is intended to work is through achieving substantial cost savings. A typical sports hall in a school might be built for approximately £6 million. An alternative solution provided by Paragon Structures and its contractors may cost about half that sum. However, the overall cost might be higher than this total if a swimming pool is included in an initiative.

The group started a marketing drive in January and this push has already led to over 30 meetings.
