A recent announcement revealed that the Royal Bath and West Showground has now opened as a vaccine hub amidst the COVID-19 crisis. The new healthcare hub, based in Shepton Mallet, has invited priority groups in a 45-minute radius of the site to receive COVID-19 vaccines.
Royal Bath and West Society Chairman, Robert Drewett, commented to the BBC:
"It's a real privilege to be able to put our showground to such good use over the coming weeks. We're full of praise for the amazing work the NHS are doing for such a complex vaccination programme."
Famous for world-class events, the Bath and West Showground plays host to a wide range of exhibitions, from show jumping and vintage vehicles to outdoor fairs and food markets. Dedicated event venues can sometimes use flyer printing services to create colourful leaflets advertising upcoming attractions.
The venue has a total of four individual vaccination pods ready for use, and it joins 13 other sites led by UK GPs, Bath and Taunton Racecourse and two hospital-based hubs as designated stations for vaccination in the local area.
The hub will now operate from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. Organisers behind the initiative estimate that the hub will be capable of vaccinating approximately 1,300 people each day.
