Wilko is currently located in the Arcade Shopping Centre, but the firm will be closing down this outlet later in the month so that it can move to a new unit inside Tameside One. Once it opens up its new store, it will be the development’s sole retail outlet, as Tameside One is otherwise home to places like Citizens Advice, a library and Tameside College Advanced Skills Centre.
This new Wilko store will be 19,000 sq. ft. in size and the company has stated that everyone who works at the current store will move over to the new one. In addition to this, it will create job opportunities for another 15 local people.
The lease for the unit has already been signed by the firm and companies often use Promotional Products when launching new outlets. Speaking to DIY Week, Craig McGregor, the firm’s head of retail, stated:
“We are delighted to have signed the lease at Tameside One and can’t wait to open our doors in July. We’ve loved serving hard-working families in Ashton-under-Lyne and are looking forward to welcoming them to our brand new store.”
