Plans for cutting edge play facility new Ashton-under-Lyne submitted

A play area that would provide equipment suitable for use by both children and adults could be constructed at a site not far from Ashton-under-Lyne.

A local housing association called Onward Homes is the developer behind this scheme and it has submitted an application for planning permission to Tameside Council. The chosen location is a site that used to be a bowling green at Hyde, near Ashton.

According to the application, it would contain children’s play facilities like a musical feature, a roundabout, a net climber, a slide and a playhouse. These would be joined by equipment for use by adults, such as physical exercise apparatus for doing step ups, sit ups and chin ups.

The fencing currently surrounding the green would be taken down and replaced by a gate and a new fence made of steel that would be 1.2 metres in height. Developers planning projects like this sometimes use Graphic Design Services to ensure they can show images of what they will look like to the authorities and the wider community.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Oliver Ryan from the council said:

“This exciting new playground will feature state of the art equipment enabling children to play together in the fresh air and get exercise while having fun.”

No date for a decision on the scheme has yet been set.
