Unique Fitness and Spa is located on Old Street in Ashton-under-Lyne and aimed at the area’s women. It has found that interest among the area’s female populace has been intense since its grand opening in October. It is owned by family duo Katy Clancy and Mary Cornforth, who secured financing from Barclays Bank to enable them to start it up.
Both of the women have considerable experience in the fitness and health sector, as well as general business experience. They were keen to apply this to helping local people get fit. Among the options available to those joining are Boogie Bounce Xtreme, Aerobics, Zumba and Les Mills Bodypump.
Six people from the area have been recruited to work within the gym, which also offers crèche facilities for mothers, a sauna and a spa.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Clancy stated that:
“I was excited when these premises became available and delighted that Barclays has seen the potential in our business plan to provide the funding required to refurbish and open as a gym.”
