Leisure centre near Ashton-under-Lyne opening soon

A leisure centre that has been built at a site not far from Ashton-under-Lyne is set to open its doors to the public soon, marking the end of the £15 million project.

The Tameside Wellness Centre is located on a brownfield site in Denton, near Ashton-under-Lyne, and the completed building measures 40,000 sq. ft. The facilities inside include a ten-pin bowling alley, fitness suite, steam room and sauna, a spa and a swimming pool that is 25m long and has eight lanes. The centre was built by Willmott Dixon and Network Space, with Active Tameside set to be responsible for running it.

Alongside the health and wellness amenities that will be on offer once it opens, the centre also contains a studio space suitable for multiple use and meeting rooms. Another feature is a terrace on the roof that has been designed for the hosting of al fresco events.

Facilities of this kind often have promotional Pens with their names on them available for people to take away, which help to spread the word. Speaking to Place North West, Network Space development director Joe Burnett said:

“The centre is an exceptional facility and we are confident it will have a huge and lasting positive impact on the people of Tameside.”

The Tameside Wellness Centre is set to have its grand opening in March.
