Sean Power-Tarbatt is studying hospitality and catering at Tameside College, while Sylvia Knowles works at the college as one of its learning support officers. The prizes to recognise their community contributions were presented to them at an awards event held every year during April.
The Trafford Centre’s Yang Sing restaurant served as the venue for this event, which sees the area’s High Sheriff handing out awards to charities, organisations and people that he has met and who have impressed him with the work they are doing in the community.
Sean was given an award for his attitude and the progress he has made, while Sylvia was honoured for the commitment she shows to the students at the college. Speaking to a reporter from FE News, Tameside College principal, Jackie Moores, stated that:
“I am extremely proud of Sean and Sylvia, and all that they have achieved. The awards they received were very well deserved and they are a credit to the college. Thank you to Gerry Yeung the High Sheriff for including the college in his awards.”
